Building a Successful Prevention Strategy for High Risk Adults @ Online

Course Description: Recent statistics still reveal that dental caries remains as one of the most prevalent
but preventable diseases that affect patients of all ages, especially the older population.
This program will guide participants in creating a successful protocol in their practice, which recognize
those adult patients who are at greatest risk for dental and root caries. Implementing a team-built risk
assessment guides the practice in both sound philosophy and treatment planning. By initiating open-ended
questions during a dental and medical history, the clinician gains greater understanding of their
patient’s past experience as well as their current lifestyle choices which impact the predisposition to this

Radiation Update – Proper Training and Protection @ Online

Course Description: Radiology in the dental field has long been proven beneficial, aiding in the detection
of structural abnormalities and disease. However, such benefits do come with a certain level of risk, which
has been gratefully reduced over time. The purpose of this course is to review general
information, requirements and safety procedures necessary to provide efficient and safe radiological
procedures in dentistry.

Continuing Education Requirements

• 20 continuing education credits
• 10 must be live (Webinar will count if it is live streamed)
• 10 can be obtained from online sources
• 2 of these credits must be in child abuse and can be obtain from a preapproved sourc

• All Above Dental Hygiene License CE Requirements
– 5 credit hours of the 20 must be in a public health related field
– the child abuse credit hours count towards this requirement

• Above Dental Hygiene License CE Requirements
– 3 credit hours in local anesthesia update or pharmacology

The state board of dentistry reserves the right to challenge the validity of all CE courses. It is recommended to obtain more than the 20 credit hours.

Did you know? The PDHA recommends that all hygienists keep proof of their CE certificates for the previous TWO renewal periods. The State Board of Dentistry can audit dental professionals for FOUR years prior to the current licensure period.
