As a condition of biennial renewal of your license, you are required to complete 2 hours of approved training on the topic of child abuse
recognition and reporting from an approved provider. This course fulfills this requirement.
Course Description: This course will help you gain an understanding of your role as a mandated reporter in meeting
your legal obligations in the area of child protection as per the Child Protective Services Law (CPSL). You will describe and
apply current information on the CPSL, recognize elements and indicators of child abuse and neglect, and demonstrate
reporting procedures. *PLEASE NOTE: This course is an approved 3 CEU credit course, however the State Board of
Dentistry only accepts 2 CEUs.

- Review the role and responsibilities of the Child Protective Services System
- Identify elements and indicators of child abuse
- Review child abuse reporting procedures
- Describe the actions taken by the county agency in response to reports of child abuse

While we make every effort to run courses that will count towards your license renewal, the State Board of Dentistry has the final say on what courses they will accept based on the state practice act.
