Sealant Saturday!
Hello from Penn College!
Saturday, March 2, our SADHA organization, community volunteers and PCT faculty participated in Sealant Saturday. Our students placed 184 sealants, provided fluoride varnish treatments and oral hygiene instructions and supplies to all participants!

The Northwest Component had a very successful Sealant Saturday event in Meadville on February 2, 2019. They provided FREE services to 29 patients and placed 209 sealants! We are proud of our dedicated members for volunteering for such a fantastic community and public health service event. Thank you to the dentist, dental hygiene student, EFDA and business staff that joined our hygienists to provide access to preventative care for children in our area.

PDHA Advocacy

PDHA Lobby Day! Legislation is important. It provides a platform for the growth of our scope of practice and a means to protect our license. This is the invisible benefit of membership.

We’d like to congratulate one of our members, Shannon Kleckner, on being awarded a 2017 Wrigley Company Foundation Community Service Grant! When interviewed about the honor, Shannon says:
“I’m very excited about the grant and the opportunity to deliver oral health care and education in some non-traditional settings in Erie County. Growing Smiles of Erie County is currently involved in delivering mobile, preventive services to the Northwest PA Cleft Palate Institute, educational table clinics, oral hygiene instructions and homecare products to refugees at the Refugee Health Clinics hosted by Erie County Department of Health and the International Institute. I have done several Cavity Free Kids presentations for the nursing staff at ECDH and student-parent groups through Erie Vo-tech. I have some fluoride varnish events planned in the near future with WIC offices throughout Erie County. The dental health clinic at ECDH is open M/W 9-1 and T/Th 1-4. Oral health educational home visits for pregnant women and mothers and lap exams for children under 3 are completed with clients from the Maternal-child health services and Nurse-family partnership programs. All of our clients are provided services at no cost to them. We are continuing to build partnerships throughout the county and look forward to being able to provide more services in the community in 2017!”
Congratulations Shannon, we are proud of all that you’re doing!
