Below is a list of terms, qualifications and some duties of the PDHA officer and positions that will be elected late summer and at this year’s Annual Session to be held November 7-11, 2019.

For PDHA Trustees and Delegates:  Submit your application online for PDHA Trustee or PDHA Delegate.  To submit a downloaded application , please send the completed application form to Kulp_Faye@comcast.net. You will be notified of the acceptance of your candidacy.

For PDHA President-Elect: Submit your application online for PDHA President-Elect. PDHA Trustees: Odd-numbered sectors will be elected electronically by the component’s sector members during the summer.

Term: 2 years with a limit of 3 consecutive terms

Qualifications: (a) Must be a voting member in good standing with this association; (b) may not hold any other elected office of the PDHA.

Duties: Attend all Board of Trustees meetings and Annual Session; complete all assignments as directed by the President; submit sector news to PDHA website; serve on at least one PDHA committee; attend all sector meetings.

PDHA Delegates: Number of delegates/alternates will be determined according to the PDHA Bylaws and elected electronically by the component’s members during the summer.

Term: 1 Annual Session with unlimited re-election

Qualifications: (a) Must be a voting member in good standing with this association; (b) it is preferred to have at least 2 years’ experience as an elected or appointed PDHA officer, trustee or committee chair, or a similar position in another state association.

Duties: Review delegates manual; attend the House of Delegates meetings; attend Reference Committee hearings and submit any testimony; attend component caucus.

PDHA OFFICER President-Elect: Elected by the House of Delegates

Term: 2 years

Qualifications: Preferred to have at least 2 years’ experience as a Board of Trustee member, Committee Chair, PDHA officer or a similar position in another state.

Duties: To assist the President as requested; assume the office of President should a vacancy occur; serve as a delegate to the ADHA Annual Session.

COMMITTEES Executive:

Two Members-at-Large Composition of Executive Committee is the President, President-Elect and two Members-at-Large who are elected by the House of Delegates.

Term: 1 year with a maximum of 3 consecutive years

Qualifications: (a) Preferred they be from components other than those of the President and President-Elect; (b) may be a committee chair; (c) no trustee may serve in this position

Duties: Transact routine business between meetings of the Board of Trustees; review all correspondence received and report to the Board of Trustees.

Leadership Development: 4 members shall be elected in odd years by Board of Trustees at Post Board of Trustees meeting

Term: 2 years with a limit of 3 consecutive terms

Qualifications: (a) Shall have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a committee chair, trustee, elected or appointed position; (b) prefer at least one member be a PDHA past president; (c) every component have at least one member on the committee.

Duties: Identify potential candidates for all elected PDHA officers and positions; identify and foster emerging leaders to provide for the growth of new leadership roles; assist the President with committee chairs appointments, if necessary; conduct elections for all Trustees and Delegates to the PDHA.

Personnel: 1 member shall be elected in odd years by the Board of Trustees at Post-Annual Session Board of Trustees meeting

Term: 2 years with a limit of 3 consecutive terms

Qualifications: (a) Member shall have at least 10 consecutive years as a member of the PDHA and at least 5 years as an officer, trustee or committee chair of the PDHA; (b) at least one member should not be a trustee and no member shall be an officer of the PDHA.

Duties: Inform members in PDHA positions of mechanism available to express their concerns and receive feedback about their position; review protocol and procedures for exit interviews; conduct performance evaluations of all independent contractors; mentor members for the growth of new leadership.

OTHER POSITIONS ADHA Delegates/Alternate Delegates: Minimum 4 nominees needed and elected by the PDHA House of Delegates. President and President-Elect serve as delegates. Number of delegates/alternates will be determined according to the ADHA Bylaws.

Term: 1 year with a limit of 3 consecutive terms

Qualifications: (a) Shall have served at least 2 years as a PDHA officer, trustee or committee chair, or similar position in another state; (b) be a member in good standing of ADHA, PDHA, and their local component; (c) meet criteria for election as listed in the Standing Rules of the Board of Trustees.

Duties: Attend all PDHA Board of Trustees meetings; study the ADHA delegates’ manual and annual reports; attend all ADHA House of Delegates meetings, Reference Committee hearings and District II caucuses.

Penn Hy-PAC: (Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists’ Association Political Action Committee) 4 directors elected by the House of Delegates in odd years.

Application and CV is not required. Nominations are taken from the floor at the 1st House of Delegates meeting.

Term: 2 years with no limit of re-election

Qualifications: (a) Shall be a member in good standing of the ADHA; (b) shall be a current contributor to Penn Hy-PAC.

Duties: Encourage dental hygienists to take a more active and effective part in government affairs; explore political issues and learn about candidates for elected officer positions; support those candidates whose political principles support the mission, policies and goals of the PDHA.
